POULTRY FARMING HAS BECOME INADEQUATE IN THE SISSALA EAST MUNICIPALITY.

Poultry farming is one of the viable undertaking in the agricultural sector whose returns have been enormous  and farmers must attach seriousness just like other agricultural activities.

It's however quite saddening at the low interest that is expressed by agriculturist in the sissala east municipality.  The population of the municipality has experienced an astronomical increment and, doesn't befit the paltry number of poultry farms within the municipality.

As we strive to educate ourselves,  we should not build knowledge in  in silos that will limit us in achieving greatness.  The facts on grounds have now justified that the theoretically based curriculum of our country has incapacitated many graduates the very day they graduate from their respective institutions and rendering them unemployed from the first day of graduation. It's there fore against this backdrop that we must prioritize the practical aspect of our education system not forgetting the agricultural sector.

As a student of Kumasi institute of tropical agriculture ( KITA), my resolute to change the narrative of the agricultural sector within the municipality has bedeviled me since my childhood and that has accounted for my choice to pursue an agricultural program at the senior high school through to this level.

In order not to waste time in pursuing my dream,  I have Marshalled ideas to set up a poultry farm within the sissala east municipality of which I wish to name it "Saani poultry farm".  There are countless reasons that have gingered this particular decision.

The products of the birds ( droppings)  can serve as a good source of manure that can boost the agricultural activities of the municipality.  The excretes of animals have been validated as one of the best fertilizers capable of increasing and sustaining the fertility of our lands. Proteins which is a good source of nutrients can also be gotten from the eggs of the birds.

Unemployment which is also a common phenomenon within the municipality can also be scaled down through the poultry productions.  Young people who complete from secondary school and can't further their education due to certain reasons can be employed to work there.

My vision is to provide all time round meat and manure to the people of sissala east municipality and Ghana at large.  Because of the inadequate exposure on the benefits of the poultry farming business,  investors don't invest their monies into it.  But they rather invest in to the production of maize and other things which is not doing us much good. I want to take up this business with seriousness and to make sure sissala east municipality is noted as one of the power bank of the poultry farming and its products in ghana.

This is a proposal which contains the executive summary,  identification of problem, business description and the plan of actions.

My commitment to agricultural development in the municipality is a public knowledge.  Am well known by many of the municipal agric officers not because of anything,  but my hard work and passion to leave a legacy.  My hard work compensation again manifested by the number of awards  I have received in my current school.

Am also a physically challenged person and not much worried about that though am sometimes restricted in doing certain things i wish to do.  But disability is not inability. I want to work hard to live a decent live instead of resorting to other inappropriate means of fending for myself.

This is a proposal am earmarking and this can only be successful if the needed support is given me.  Am therefore calling on all organizations,  philanthropist and all well wishers to Come to my aid to help me realize this dream.  This is a good plan,  but a good plan not properly implemented becomes a mere wish.
