Royal visit by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the former president John Mahama

  Yesterday the former president welcomed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to his office, ahead of his UPSA Leadership Lecture 2019.
The former president John Dramani Mahama used the opportunity to once again discuss with the Asantehene a number of critical national development issues, and also tap into his wise counsel.


  Otumfuo Asantehene and  the formal president have always had a relationship underlined by mutual respect and brotherliness, and it was indeed a great honour for the former president to welcome him and his delegation.

Personalities present at this colourful meeting  was the National Chairman of NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, executives of the NDC and former appointees who welcomed the Asantehene.

Breaking News: KNUST wins Pan African University Debate Championship for the second in history.

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has made yet another piece of Pan African Universities Debate Championship History. The win against 13 other African countries was their second final triumph in a row in the competition – making them the first university in West Africa to do so on more than one occasion. Since the inception of the tournament in 2008, only the University of Cape Town, South Africa had won two in a row; won in 2012 and 2013. The Pan African Universities Debate Championships is the biggest African inter-varsity debate tournament held every year. Ghanaian universities first participated in the PAUDC in 2012 with KNUST and the University of Ghana being the representatives from Ghana.   Yesterday's  parliament happens to be the 13th parliament for the school, The speaker of parliament for the University of Education Winneba Kumasi campus Rt Hon. Simon Abengiba Agoma, he emphasized the need for students to dress decently for lectures, he said the issue was serious and wished the school authority took it up. Yesterday the parliamentarians  for University of education Winneba met for their second time in the semester, at the setting close to 60 members (members and observers) were in attendance even though some key representives were not present.    The motion tabled for debate was on the matter of  "sex for grades" in our universities, female students are to be blamed for not the lecturers, the minority leader Hon.
