Sustainability of china's development in global context - Article Kumborhu F Osman
The background under which a child is raised has a greater influence in shaping and directing his/her line of reasoning and the choice of issues such a child may choose to prioritized.
As an African child and specifically from Ghana, there's no gain saying that poverty is the twin brother of such a child considering the general porous and ineffective manner at which the whole country is been administered by the rulers of the country. So deriving inspirations from the above narratives, a poor boy like me emanating from the northern extract of our beloved country couldn't afford to opined on any issue other than than development.
Precedence are what we use to shape our actions and to serve as a reservoir of knowledge to fall on when we are confronted with a similar case or when we are to chat a new direction and this exemplified why the footprints of colonialism still play a pivotal role in taking certain critical decisions of ours ( though it's not very appropriate at all times).
One can't be making any substantial investigations into developmental issues without mentioning the name of China who has made positive strides and chalked unmatchable records in what is now known as " the sustainability of china's development".
My desire to fine answers to the wobbling economic and developmentally stagnated phenomenon that has bedeviled mother ghana was a case which can appropriately be tackle by exploring the economic, environmental and social strategies that were employed and still been modified by Chinese to give their country a face lift and that's my main motive this hot afternoon.
Before I advance to expatiate the very relevant issues at heart, I would like to define some of the cardinal terms in the caption of my write up into their infinitesimal elements. Development refers to "An event constituting a new stage in a changing situation". Sustainability according to the investopedia refers to " The focus on meeting the present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs". Sustainable development therefore according to "Our common future" refers to "the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (WCED 1987).
yes, one should not hesitate in swallowing the biter pill when it's very necessary, one should not equally feel inferior in an attempt of acknowledging a person with superior knowledge who was able to explored his superiority to his benefit and other people.
As I said in the preliminary stage of my write up, precedents are what we use to help us in certain ways. The unprecedented sustainable development level of china is a global attestation which needs to be under study and tap by many.
Development does not come over night but rather a gradual and systematic process. China I we speak today has had its fare share of the economic turbulence but because of strategic planning, they are now among the leading economic prospers in the world. This clearly tells us that nothing is insurmountable with the right planning in place.
Poverty which is the number one ugly canker one can imagine off is something the Chinese government has tackled with carefulness and it's now yielding results. It's on historical records that what china has done for the poor is something no nation has ever attempted in human history. China has reduced poverty at a rate unparalleled since the country started its reforms four decades ago. It's on records that, the government of china has lifted 800 million people out of poverty thereby accounting for 70 percent of the world's poverty reduction. Poverty eradication continues to be the Chinese government focus in its 2020 plan.
The war against pollution is one of the positive undertakings that has catapulted the success story of Chinese economy and it's worthy of emulation by other countries. China was noted as one of the filthiest country in the world because of the notoriety it has gained in environmental pollution. But now, the said china which was very popular in the News for the bad reasons is now one of the most celebrated country when it comes cleanliness. China is able to maintain sustainable city planning, forestry management and electric vehicles (EV) among other things. China is now noted to be responsible for half of the sales of EV worldwide. This also tells us that we should not be down spirited with our past.
Chronicling the success of Chinese government can not be completed with out mentioning the structural transformation successes chalked at the industrial revolution. China has revolutionized its economy in various respects thereby giving the country the technological distinctive competencies. It's abundantly clear and can't be contested by any that China name would be mentioned when the issue of technology is mentioned.
The "find new things" oriented nature of the Chinese has made their government invest colossal amount of funds into research work that is now paying in returns. Research has made china one of the places countries do go to seek for help in solving problems and this has made it to become one of "the fastest sustained expansion in history" according to the world bank research.
The matter of concern wasn't to catalogue how powerful china has been, but the enviable legacies that should be copied my our developing nations to aid us overcome some of the frustrating situations we are confronted with.
It has been seen that, China economy was not born with a silver spoon in its mouth, but with the right attitude, hard work, tenacity, there has been a change of their bad narratives to success that is now been envied by many countries. this has also hinted us that, it's never too late for African countries to make amends. Am rolling down the curtains on this agenda with this " it's not that there are problems, but expecting that there shouldn't be problems and thinking that having problems is a problem, makes it the problem".
