The issue of sex for grades must be taken seriously - Speaker of parliament

  Yesterday's  parliament happens to be the 13th parliament for the school, The speaker of parliament for the University of Education Winneba Kumasi campus Rt Hon. Simon Abengiba Agoma, he emphasized the need for students to dress decently for lectures, he said the issue was serious and wished the school authority took it up. Yesterday the parliamentarians  for University of education Winneba met for their second time in the semester, at the setting close to 60 members (members and observers) were in attendance even though some key representives were not present.    The motion tabled for debate was on the matter of  "sex for grades" in our universities, female students are to be blamed for not the lecturers, the minority leader Hon. Saaka Wahid opened the debate by giving a background to the topic chosen. Medikal and Kelvyn Boy to perform at UEW AKWAABA

 Today the Students representative council (SRC) of the University of Education, Winneba Kumasi campus will celebrate their SRC Akwaaba night with performance from these two talented and hardworking musicians. The SCR of UEW-K is collaborating with an independent organization called Tingg to bring the 'omo ada' hit maker Medikal and the 'another' Afro pop star Kelvyn Boy to crown the night.  Medikal is the current best rapper of Ghana and hip-pop/hip-life artist of the year for VGMA, he has a lot of fan base at the senior high schools and tertiary institution, Kelvyn Boy on the other hand is the only Afro-pop star in Ghana currently and one of the new artists for 2018 nominees for VGMA, he was signed to Bhim nation and have released several hit tracks under that label. Inter halls over as Autonomy hall wins all volleyball games.

  Games are part of every university life because these universities depend on these fresher games to recruit fresh men and women into the University teams, today university of education, Winneba Kumasi campus organised fresher games for the various halls. Three halls today participated in volleyball inter halls, these included; Opoku Ware hall, Atwima hall and Autonomy hall.                                             In the first game, Atwima and Autonomy played three sets and Autonomy hall won two sets. In the first set, Autonomy hall beat Atwima with a slit difference, in the second game Atwima came strongly and also won leading the game to the third set. In the thirds set, Autonomy won making them to play Opoku Ware in the next game.    In the second game, Autonomy and Opoku Ware played three sets and Autonomy won.     World Mental Health Day is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. The third edition of inter debate competition between departments in University of Education Kumasi campus today had their opening debate for the various departments in the school, eight departments today had the opportunity to battle each other to see which department came first. At the end of today's competition, AMES team A, MASA team A, ASSOL team A and ASSOL team C all made  it to semifinals, in most of the position the adjudicators were all unanimous in their decisions. The platform banner   In the first debate; ASA, INFOTESS, ASSOL And MASA locked horns for more than half an hour to convince the adjudicators to place them first. At the end of the contest these were the results as being mentioned by the chief adjudicator; MASA team A came first(1st), ASSOL team A also came second(2nd), INFOTESS team A came third(3rd) and ASA team A came last(4th) . Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor, lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education of the School of Education and Leadership, University of Ghana was caught in a sex for grade expose The investigations conducted by BBC Africa Eye, captured incidents of sexual harassment by these lecturers including the two named professors in Ghana and other West Africa’s most prestigious universities. NUSS, Kumasi Campus welcome freshers to UEW.

  NUSS which is an acronym for National Union of Sissala Students today had their first meeting to officially welcome the level 100s to campus. The meeting which started at around 11:30am at the TL block on the university of Education Kumasi campus saw the attendance of current executives, some level 200, 300 and majority of them were level 100s.   In the welcome address of the vice chairman for the union Mr. Gbollu Gebriel Peter, He welcomed the level 100s and asked for their forgiveness for not attending to them on the opening week, he said problems were beyond the executives that was why they could not attend to them. He also advised them to take their studies serious since that was the main reason that brought them to  school, he ended by congratulating them and thanked them for honoring the meeting.
