Hon. Amidu Chinnia Donates Money, Books and Educational Resources Worth Over Gh¢15,000 I mcbashmedia.
The member of parliament and deputy minister of Sanitation and Water Resources today donated a sum of gh¢11,000 to the Sissala East municipal education office. He said the amount donated was to enable the educational directorate organise an educational seminar for this year's BECE candidates at the various schools. He further said the money will cater for the cost per head for each student and the facilitation fee. The honourable minister also said he will provide fuel for the various circuit centers to transport students in all the schools to the circuit center. He added that plans are far advanced to provide feeding for all the students.
In addition to that, he said he was impressed with the novel Wajia Reading Project which is an initiative of the headteacher of Tutco Demonstration to encourage students to read and write. The minister also donated story books worth Gh¢ 2,000 plus a cash sum of Gh¢1,000 to support the project. Mr. File Dangor was there to receive the donations.
The member of parliament did not end there, he also as part of his support to his former school donated 9 White Marker boards with dusters to the GES director for onwards delivery to Nabugubelle Basic school. The first term Mp said the school made him who he is and he will continue to support them. He also intimated that there was more to come. The MP challenged the directorate to present a blueprint to his office on how to lift the standards of education in the municipality.
In the thank you speech of the GES director, Mr. Charles Lerweh said he and his staff were grateful for the donation and they were praying for the MP to do more. He said through the efforts of the MP their broken down vehicles are now on the road, he further said the MP is just in his first year but he has done a lot in the educational sector. The municipal director used the occasion to appeal to the MP for support to renovate the educational office( budgeted GH¢20,000 for it), fuel for traveling and supervision and help provide furniture for some of the schools.
